About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer intern will join a collaborative engineering team developing mechanical systems for crewed and autonomous maritime vehicles, including surface vessels and submarines. The role offers experience in mechanical design, analysis, simulation, testing, rapid prototyping, and technical communication in support of Navy technical challenges. The intern will use CAD, modeling, and design tools to develop mechanical systems; conduct simulations, analyses, and tests; prepare and participate in design reviews; and produce technical reports and briefing materials for staff and Government agencies. The role also involves working with electrical, fabrication, and systems engineers, as well as external vendors. The internship is intended for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Naval Architecture. Candidates must have at least a 3.0 GPA and be eligible to obtain an Interim Secret clearance by their start date and ultimately a Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility. The posted hourly pay range is $22.60–$47.95. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
