About The Position

V2X Engineering is seeking an entry level Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting development of a diverse set of mission critical products including advanced airborne systems, podded communication link and sensor systems, armament equipment, suspension and release equipment, cutting edge system integrations, radar systems, cockpit displays, avionics, and more. Our Indianapolis facility also supports a variety of other product lines serving multiple Department of Defense (DoD) customers providing the opportunity to work on a diverse set of programs and roles supporting the continued advancement of your career.

Requirements

Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance
Ability to work onsite at our Indianapolis, Indiana facility with an Integrated Product Team being hands on with hardware.
Experience in the design, integration, or testing of mechanical components and assemblies
Familiar with 3-D CAD Modeling Tools (CREO preferred)
Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to be adaptable to changing priorities and assignments
Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, and be able to function in a dynamic environment, and have good time management skills.
Must have strong teaming skills, and good communication skills.

A minimum of 2 years professional work experience desired to include internships.
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, (ASME Y14.5 standards)
Experience capturing key characteristics & requirements for systems
Design, integration, or test experience/understanding of any combination
Airborne podded systems
Airborne armament equipment or alternate mission equipment
Cockpit displays
Avionics
Radar Systems
Mobile Ground Systems
Ground Vehicle Structures
Custom/COTS Electronics including wires, relays, and analog electronics
Design for human factors/safety
Prototyping and agile methodologies
Understanding of manufacturing processes including traditional CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assemblies, water jet, laser, welding, EDM, additive manufacturing, etc.
Understanding of aerospace materials and coatings
Working knowledge of data management systems (Windchill preferred)

Responsibilities

Design of new products and test hardware, as well as the improvement of existing products.
Utilize mechanical engineering expertise during the proposal and concept generation phase, product development, production, and qualification testing phases of new product design.
Design creative solutions that meet product requirements.
Be hands-on supporting production, integration, and testing.
Develop solutions which leverage commercial off the shelf (COTS) products paired with custom hardware.
Be a resourceful researcher engaging vendors, manufacturers, and SME’s regarding design decisions.
Take part in design reviews at both part, subsystem and system level including Peer Reviews, DFMAs, PDRs, and CDRs.
Work closely with systems, electrical, test, and production engineers.
Leverage strong verbal and written communication to adapt to a wide variety of high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and courtesy.
