Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with scanning technologies such as Faro tripod systems or Creaform handheld scanners
  • Ability to convert physical measurements and scan data into accurate 2D engineering drawings using Inventor
  • Familiarity with minimal 3D modeling workflows to support drawing creation
  • Understanding of mechanical components used in transformers, including gaskets, flanges, and mounting structures
  • Ability to work on long‑cycle, detail‑intensive engineering projects requiring precision and consistency
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with cross‑functional engineering and field teams
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, manufacturable drawings
  • Capable of working independently and as a team member
  • Strong work ethic and unwavering integrity

Responsibilities

  • Support transformer remanufacturing projects with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and long project‑cycle management
  • Use specialized scanning technologies (Faro tripod scanner and Creaform handheld camera) to capture physical measurements of transformer components
  • Convert scan data into accurate 2D detailed drawings for components such as gaskets, flanges, and mechanical interfaces
  • Apply minimal 3D modeling techniques as needed to enable precise drawing generation
  • Perform mechanical modification design work for transformer components based on scan outputs
  • Contribute to redesign projects, including mounting structures for mobile substations
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and subject‑matter experts to validate measurements, drawings, and design intent
  • Ensure drawing accuracy to support manufacturing, remanufacturing, and field modification activities
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
  • Contribute to projects that impact communities in Chaska, Shakopee, Save, and Carter, and the greater Minneapolis, MN metro
