About The Position

Whether involved in the design and development of manufacturing processes for products or supporting maintenance and reliability, engineering is vital to making sure customers and patients have the medicines they need, when they need them. Working with our innovative engineering team, you'll help bring medicines to the world even faster by imagining what’s possible and taking action. Your technical skills will help us keep our plants, utility systems, buildings and equipment up and running. Pfizer relies on you for maintenance, redesign, and repair of utilities in our plants, such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, air conditioning, heating, painting and general maintenance. You will be relied on to take the necessary preventive and corrective steps for setting priorities, forecasting and allocating resources in the maintenance tasks. As a Mechanical Engineer, your breadth of knowledge on internal or external business challenges will help us improve our engineering products, processes and services. You will manage projects by meeting objectives and preparing forecasts for resource requirements. Your risk-taking ability will help us advance new concepts and methodologies. You will provide technical guidance and oversight to team members and help in problem solving. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a master's degree with 0+ years of experience; OR an associate's degree with 6 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant experience
  • Engineering experience is required.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Process Safety Management elements.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management Solution or other CMMS applications required
  • Be highly motivated, show initiative, and work well independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to shift priorities according to changes in departmental/facility needs and be open to different ideas/approaches.
  • Permanent work authorization in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices), Food and Drug Administration, current pharmaceutical industry standards, and/or other regulations is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and engineering solutions for plant utility and environmental systems, including HVAC, chillers, chilled water, cooling towers, steam, process glycol, heating hot water, freezers and cold rooms, fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, fire protection systems, BAS, and associated controls.
  • Design and support HVAC and utility systems for pharmaceutical, biotech, manufacturing, and industrial facilities.
  • Develop conceptual and basis-of-design engineering solutions, including system selection, sizing, and design intent documentation.
  • Perform airflow, temperature, humidity, and utility load calculations.
  • Specify mechanical systems and materials, including ductwork, piping, pressure classes, equipment, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Design and support mechanical equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, custom and packaged AHU units, fans, pumps, heat exchangers, dehumidifiers, heat recovery systems, and exhaust systems.
  • Develop engineering deliverables including airflow diagrams, pressurization and classification plans, P&IDs, equipment layouts, utility distribution drawings, and BAS control philosophies and sequences of operation.
  • Provide construction administration and field support including drawing and submittal reviews, RFI responses, punch lists, startup, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects and work activities, coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders and providing technical oversight through execution.
  • Develop scopes of work, support change control activities, and update drawings, P&IDs, SOPs, and validation strategies as required.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment and innovative problem-solving while ensuring compliance with cGMP, SOPs, safety, OSHA, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support operations through procedure development, training, preventive maintenance improvement, equipment evaluations, and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to site safety procedures and performing proactive safety assessments.
