We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support product design for manufacturability of fuel cell components and systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working both on the floor and at the desk combining testing, analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. You will contribute to the development and improvement of fuel cell components while gaining exposure to real-world engineering processes across design, manufacturing, and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and willingness to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Motivation to learn, grow, and take initiative
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, co-op, or project experience in product development, machine design, or structural design
  • Exposure to thermal systems, heat transfer, or materials behavior
  • Familiarity with CAD software (Inventor preferred or similar)
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., sheet metal fabrication, welding, stamping, etc.)
  • Experience with testing, validation, or data analysis
  • Exposure to statistical or engineering analysis methods (e.g., DOE, Six Sigma concepts)
  • Experience working with suppliers or cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of fuel cell components and sub-systems
  • Perform testing and analysis to better understand system performance and identify improvements
  • Assist in materials testing and verification of mechanical properties
  • Work closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are correctly implemented in production
  • Update and maintain design drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation
  • Participate in design reviews, engineering changes, and validation testing for new or updated products
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing
  • Support ongoing projects, product improvements, and quality investigations
  • Assist in improving manufacturing processes (documentation, basic risk assessments, and process reviews)
  • Act as a liaison between design engineering and manufacturing when needed
