About The Position

Re:Build Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer, Machine Design Team Lead to join our team in Rochester, NY. This is an outstanding opportunity for a technically skilled professional capable of balancing hands-on engineering excellence with team management in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You'll serve as the day-to-day manager of our mechanical machine design team while driving complex projects from concept through completion. We're looking for a collaborative leader who can foster a growth-oriented team culture while maintaining deep technical expertise in machine design and industrial automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related engineering discipline
• 7-10+ years of machine design experience in industrial automation (robotics, servos, custom tooling, etc.)
• More than 5 years working with SolidWorks
• Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience leading and mentoring technical teams
• Proficiency in SolidWorks FEA and CFD tools
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or eligibility
• Experience with ISO9001, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the mechanical machine design team
• Manage workload allocation and optimize resource utilization
• Drive talent management, coaching, and professional development
• Lead recruiting, hiring, and onboarding efforts
• Plan, develop, and direct engineering projects
• Apply advanced theories and develop innovative solutions to technical challenges
• Create and maintain design standards and engineering calculations
• Participate in client meetings and internal design reviews
• Prepare multi-disciplined project proposals and cost estimates
• Develop detailed project plans using project management tools
• Engage in business development with existing and potential clients
• Maintain strong client relationships and support sales efforts
