Mechanical Engineer Intern

KLA•Milpitas, CA

About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at KLA, you will contribute to advancing business priorities through mechanical design work supporting the e-Beam division. You will learn how advanced semiconductor inspection tools work and own a design project that will be delivered to the team. The work may involve designing a functional subsystem for an e-beam tool or developing tooling and fixtures that support tool build, alignment, testing, or service. You will create 3D CAD models and production-ready 2D drawings using GD&T; perform engineering analyses to validate designs; collaborate with suppliers and the machine shop to prototype, assemble, test, and refine designs; and present your design and results to the engineering team at the end of the internship.

  • Clear communication skills and curiosity about how complex systems work.
  • Requires less than 1 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and document a functional subsystem for an e-beam tool, or tooling and fixtures that support tool build, alignment, testing, or service.
  • Create 3D CAD models and production-ready 2D drawings using GD&T.
  • Run engineering analyses, such as tolerance stack-ups, structural, thermal, or vibration analyses, to validate designs.
  • Work with suppliers and the machine shop on prototypes; assemble, test, and iterate on designs.
  • Present the design and results to the engineering team at the end of the internship.
