About The Position

WR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to lead the design, development, integration, and qualification of electromechanical systems supporting advanced naval platforms. This role goes beyond the engineering design. You will help bring complex systems from concept to deployment. You will develop and refine mechanical designs, create detailed technical data packages, support system integration, and ensure products meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will translate concepts into robust, mission-ready solutions that can withstand the demanding environments of fleet operations. Your expertise will directly contribute to the delivery of reliable, high-quality systems supporting critical naval missions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Six (6)+ years of full-time professional experience working as a Mechanical Engineer.
  • Experience working with CAD software (AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor preferred) with strong knowledge of 3D modeling, Bills of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to evaluate cost, manufacturability, and quality considerations in engineering designs.
  • Active DoD security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting DoD or Navy programs
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD environmental requirements
  • Experience with product lifecycle support from concept through production
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring engineers

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electromechanical systems and mechanical components for naval applications
  • Review and refine bill of materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability
  • Create and maintain detailed technical data packages (TDPs) to support production and lifecycle management
  • Develop 3D models and engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor
  • Support and contribute to environmental qualification testing (temperature, vibration, humidity, etc.)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration across mechanical, electrical, and system components
  • Support prototype development, testing, and design iteration
  • Ensure compliance with applicable military and industry standards
