About The Position

The Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), managed and operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies, is a premier advanced manufacturing facility that supports the safety, security, reliability and effectiveness of our nation's nuclear deterrent. With nearly 7,000 employees combined in Kansas City, Missouri, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, KCNSC protects our nation and allies by producing trusted national security products and services for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration. We create innovative solutions to complex national security challenges, and lead with accountability, collaboration and an unwavering dedication to our mission and core values. Are you ready to do work that matters? Summary Shape the Future of National Security as a Mechanical Engineer Environmental Testing – Department of Applied Science & Integrated Solutions Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) Join a mission‑driven engineering organization where advanced technology, national‑security impact, and deep technical challenge come together. At KCNSC, operated by Honeywell FM&T, you will help ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of systems that directly support the U.S. nuclear deterrent. We are seeking a highly capable Mechanical Engineer to strengthen our Environmental Testing group. In this role, you will design and execute complex vibration, shock, thermal, and centrifuge tests that replicate the extreme conditions experienced by mission‑critical national‑security components. This position offers both hands‑on test execution and high‑level technical leadership within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Your work will directly influence the performance of advanced systems in real‑world conditions—and shape future test capabilities across KCNSC. Department Overview The Environmental Test Laboratory simulates real‑world environments for component handling and transport, storage, flight, and delivery to ensure reliability. Laboratory testing on manufactured products and products in development include a variety of environments and situations to ensure quality and proper functionality. Materials are tested to determine long‑term effects of temperature and humidity and verification of product design by simulation of the dynamic, climatic, and/or electrical end‑use conditions. Product limits and tolerances are established by over‑test simulation scenarios of end‑use conditions to develop safety margins for manufactured components.
