Onboard Systems Hoist & Winch, located in Anaheim, CA is one of the world’s leading providers of Search & Rescue (SAR) and Human External Cargo (HEC) advanced mission equipment for civil, commercial, and military helicopters. The Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for supporting the design, improvement, and investigation of flight hardware and test equipment. The role performs mechanical analysis, develops and updates drawings, prepares technical documentation, and supports failure investigations and material review activities. This position works closely with manufacturing, quality, testing, field service, electrical, and other engineering teams to resolve technical issues and support product development.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of electromechanical systems and strong mechanical engineering fundamentals across a broad range of topics such as statics, materials, and thermal.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Analysis, modeling and drawing generation experience (such as NX, SolidWorks).
  • Excellent technical writing and PC skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of engineering and management personnel and capable of positively interacting in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems such as motors and controllers or actuators.
  • Experience in design and analysis for Military or Commercial Line Replaceable Units (LRU's).
  • Familiarity with DO-160 or MIL-STD-810 is desirable.
  • Familiarity with helicopter subsystems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with aircraft Qualification and Regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the design, improvement, and investigation of flight hardware and test equipment.
  • Performing mechanical analysis.
  • Developing and updating drawings.
  • Preparing technical documentation.
  • Supporting failure investigations and material review activities.
  • Working closely with manufacturing, quality, testing, field service, electrical, and other engineering teams to resolve technical issues and support product development.
  • Flight hardware and test equipment improvement, failure investigation, material review board, customer and vendor support.
  • Mechanical analysis, reviewing and writing technical documents, designing mechanical components and updating drawings.
  • Coordinating with manufacturing, field service, quality, test, analysis and electrical disciplines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
