About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer II will be responsible for designing, building, and activating cryogenic, high pressure, oxygen, hydrogen, or other fluid systems to support Eta Space’s goal of providing terrestrial and orbital refueling solutions. This person will utilize knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow, and controls to design and analyze mechanical components for satellite systems and subsystems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Fluids, or Mechanical Engineering
• Proficiency in solid modeling and drawing generation CAD packages and FEA tools
• Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Ability to evaluate test data and present in a clear and impactful manner to various audiences
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Experience with space payload design and integration
• Working knowledge of spacecraft operations and related ground systems

Nice To Haves

• Experience with fluid components such as valves, disconnects, and umbilicals preferred
• Knowledge of LabView or other DAQ systems preferred
• Experience with cryogenic systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze mechanical components for satellite systems and subsystems.
• Incorporate additive manufactured parts into structural design.
• Generate 2D and 3D engineering drawings of systems.
• Perform and evaluate Finite Element Analysis of components and assemblies, including stress, vibration, thermal-expansion, and modal modeling using commercial FEA software packages.
• Write system requirements, interface control, and other design documents.
• Write analysis reports documenting mechanical analysis performed incorporating industry standards.
• Write test plans for system testing to meet mechanical/environmental standards.
• Lead structural and modeling including stress, vibration, and modal analysis.
• Interface with systems, software, electrical engineering teams, and customers and vendors.
• Work independently as well as part of a team and manage key supplier relationships.
• Manage your time, workflow, and deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously.
