The Mechanical Engineer I supports the development of new and sustaining products by assisting in design, prototyping, testing, and documentation. The engineer works closely with senior-level engineers to actively learn about products and grow through experience and mentorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 0-2 Years of experience in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Basic proficiency in CAD and/or similar tools.
  • Basic familiarity with engineering software for modeling and simulation.
  • Preliminary skills in effective problem-solving and able to communicate across some levels of the organization related to concepts of supply-chain, production, and electronics.
  • A basic understanding of various manufacturing technologies and methods, preferably within the electronics manufacturing industry.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation), able to partner with and communicate with customers, both technical and non-technical.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.
  • Support organizational planning through coordinating with internal and external resources, and the ability to balance critical priorities.
  • Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed actions, solve complex problems, and drive learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Minor in Electrical Engineering, Power Hardware Engineering, Computer Science
  • Exposure to FEA, CFD, or thermal simulation tools and an understanding of their application to hardware design and validation.
  • Experience with power hardware, circuit design, and IEEE standards
  • Hands ‑ on experience with prototyping, assembly, or testing of electro ‑ mechanical or power hardware components.
  • Familiarity with thermal management solutions for electronics (heat sinks, airflow design, material selection).
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
  • Understanding of common manufacturing and assembly processes used in electronics and power hardware (sheet metal, PCB assemblies, enclosures, fasteners).
  • Experience working with cross ‑ functional teams including electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
  • Exposure to quality and continuous improvement tools (FMEA, root cause analysis, SPC, lean manufacturing concepts).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems for current and pre-production projects and products.
  • Contribute to product development efforts by supporting prototyping and testing new technologies.
  • Create and modify 3D models, schematic engineering drawings, and utilize CAD software.
  • Apply basic programming and tool usage to support model creation and documentation.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and simulations using FEA tools to support design validation and performance analysis.
  • Document findings and analysis.
  • Participate in building and testing mechanical prototypes.
  • Conduct mechanical, environmental, and vibration performance tests under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Learn product functionality and capabilities through hands-on experience and mentorship from senior-level engineers.
  • Support root cause analysis and RMA processing.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
