About The Position

The Air Defense Ground Equipment Mechanical Design Department is responsible for the mechanical design, development, and integration of critical defense platform systems. This includes radar and communications shelters, electronic subsystems, launchers, hardware integration, and system interconnects. We are currently seeking a motivated and driven Mechanical Engineer I to join our Ground Equipment Design Team. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, mechanical hardware design experience, system integration skills, and a strong background in program execution and production support. As a key contributor on a mechanical or cross-functional engineering team, you will be responsible for component and assembly modeling, documentation, design changes, and release processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field (Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
  • Experience with 3D CAD, design tools such as SolidWorks, CREO, or Siemens NX.
  • Engineering project, internship, research, coursework, or hands-on project experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Microsoft Office or presentation tools.
  • Experience collaborating on team-based engineering or technical projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Exposure to mechanical hardware design, system integration, or production support environments.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the mechanical design, development, and integration of Air Defense Ground Equipment systems including radar and communications shelters, launchers, electronic subsystems, and hardware integration components.
  • Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and engineering documentation using RTX design tools such as CREO and PDM.
  • Assist with engineering change implementation, drawing updates, and release processes.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers and cross-functional teams to support program execution and production activities.
  • Perform analytical and technical engineering tasks within a program environment and contribute to design reviews or presentations as needed.
  • Support component integration, documentation updates, and configuration management activities.
  • Apply Raytheon engineering processes, procedures, and standards in daily work activities.
