Mechanical Engineer I - Mechanisms (Onsite)

RTX•El Segundo, CA
•$62,900 - $119,700•Onsite

About The Position

Raytheon Intelligence & Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its space mechanisms team in El Segundo, California. The role supports mechanisms development, integration, and testing across multiple space programs, including the design of mechanical components and mechanisms for opto-mechanical systems using Creo. The engineer will also support assembly, integration, and test activities in a laboratory environment for electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) space hardware. The position works with junior and senior manufacturing and mechanical engineers, technicians, and other engineering disciplines to design, build, and test hardware. The engineer will create or revise designs and drawings, prepare assembly instructions, support builds, and apply design-for-producibility and manufacturability principles. Work will be presented for peer review. The engineer applies engineering principles to mechanisms design and development, including research into tribology and use of kinematics to design and analyze mechanical assemblies. The role requires generating detailed design drawings with GD&T and working with cross-functional engineering and analysis teams on material selection, thermal management, precision mechanical mounting and motion, and structural optimization while balancing schedule constraints. The engineer will also use a product data management tool to manage design creation, rework, and engineering changes. At least 10% travel to domestic and international suppliers and production facilities is required. The position is primarily onsite.
