About The Position

A leading multi-disciplinary team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Department Manager for its Detroit team. The manager will oversee department staff and projects, coordinate with project managers, support staffing and business development, and ensure project quality and client expectations are met. Salary is commensurate with experience. The successful applicant must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship. Requirements

At least 8 years of mechanical design experience in a consulting environment.
Experience designing projects in one or more of the following areas: healthcare, sports, commercial, public sector, industrial, education, and/or institutional.
Working knowledge of Revit.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

Work with project managers within the organization.
Create work plans and estimates for department staff assigned to projects.
Ensure work meets QA/QC standards and client expectations.
Supervise projects and staff.
Meet performance metrics and goals.
Prepare proposals and administer project contracts.
Maintain backlogs and manpower forecasts for proper staffing and department utilization.
Perform annual reviews and approve staff timecards and expense reports.
Assist Human Resources with recruiting and training.
Participate in trade organizations.
Assist with business development.
