About The Position

Dewberry's Jackson, MS office is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer - Commissioning Agent to join their commissioning department. This role requires 8+ years of engineering experience and expertise in mechanical systems across diverse projects. The Commissioning Team has experienced significant growth, leading to increased demand for their services in markets such as Education, Healthcare, Industrial, and Federal projects. The position involves providing technical, mechanical, and process management support for the commissioning department, performing design reviews of mechanical and plumbing designs, inspecting building systems, and creating comprehensive testing and closeout documents using cutting-edge software. This role is crucial for the continued growth of the commissioning group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in commissioning and mechanical systems
  • Accomplished engineer with 8+ years of experience
  • Must have knowledge of manipulating, adjusting, setup and testing HVAC controls systems such as JCI, Trane, Automated Logic, Siemens, etc.
  • Must have complete working knowledge of HVAC chilled water and DX systems, including design, operation, and testing of: Chillers, Boilers, Cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, AHU, RTU, ERU, VAVs, exhaust, FCU, etc.
  • Commissioning experience
  • Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in multiple control systems is a plus
  • Commissioning process certification preferred or ability to acquire within first 6 months
  • Business development experience a plus
  • Professional Engineering License a plus or ability to acquire

Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning services on a variety of project types.
  • Actively support and coordinate with the entire commissioning team to execute projects and uphold our commitments.
  • HVAC sequence of operation knowledge and capable of performing design review of Sequence of operation and creating mechanical system testing procedures, and testing the same in the field.
  • Must have knowledge of manipulating, adjusting, setup and testing HVAC controls systems such as JCI, Trane, Automated Logic, Siemens, etc. Knowledge in multiple control systems is a plus.
  • Must have complete working knowledge of HVAC chilled water and DX systems, including design, operation, and testing of: Chillers, Boilers, Cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, AHU, RTU, ERU, VAVs, exhaust, FCU, etc.
  • Review air and water test and balance process, review a TAB reports, and identify issues.
  • Visit client facilities and gather necessary data to test mechanical systems.
  • Create system installation and testing documents.
  • Be familiar with OSHA safety requirements and have the ability to identify deficiencies.
  • Be familiar with building codes and have the ability to make intuitive decisions related to such.
  • Read and understand building plans and specifications.
  • Work safely around electrical systems up to 600 volts.
  • Effectively communicate with all clients, construction trades, and design professionals.
  • Have a high aptitude for abstract reasoning, assertiveness, thoroughness, and be very detail-oriented.
  • Work flexible hours and work in hot or cold environments.
  • Climb stairs, ladders, and use lift trucks. Do moderate lifting.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
  • Travel approximately 50% of the time.
