About The Position

The Ahlstrom Stevens Point Mill’s Co-op program aims to develop future engineering and leadership resources while providing process support to the mill’s operations group(s). Co-op assignments are designed to offer candidates growth opportunities in their chosen discipline and educate them on various career paths within the organization. The goal is for Co-ops to be fully capable of stepping into a full-time engineering position within the organization by the end of the program. This position will assist the Maintenance Team in achieving safety, quality, production, cost, and product development objectives for a paper machine process line. It offers the chance to work in an engaged, team-focused environment while building relevant skills and experience.

Requirements

  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, or similar Engineering degree program
  • Living in or willing to relocate to the Stevens Point, Wisconsin area from January – August 2027
  • Strong technical aptitude and proven problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects
  • Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups
  • Learn and provide technical support to process engineers and coordinators with Proficy, Centerlining, Optivision and Aspentech software systems
  • Monitor, assess, analyze, and optimize process quality and conditions
  • Monitor, assess, and analyze process variability
  • Reduce environmental impact
  • Provide technical support for key departments
  • Provide problem solving and analytical skills
  • Follow Ahlstrom’s manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper
  • Assist and/or lead safety, productivity, quality, efficiency, cost control, compliance, and housekeeping projects
  • Support operations/maintenance efforts and drive continuous improvement
