About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern with the Nidec Aerospace team, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to design electric propulsion systems for the battery-powered aircrafts that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B. Nidec is the world’s leading electric motor manufacturer and a true pioneer in electrification across a wide array of industries since its foundation in 1973, ranging from appliance, and energy infrastructure, to ground transportation. Nidec Aerospace is a newly created Joint Venture between Nidec and Embraer which intends to take a leading role in the Electrification of Aircrafts. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong academic background with coursework in mechanical / aerospace engineering.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (Creo used at Nidec Aerospace).
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the mechanical design of various types of components required to assemble/build electrical engines (FAA classification of aerospace propulsion motors).
  • Will become familiar with component design, 3D and 2D detailing, and various manufacturing methods.
  • Work in various labs on assembly of the electrical engines.
  • Work with various Nidec and outside facilities on the testing and validation of the electrical engines and their internal subsystems.
  • Assist in all tasks required to meet the assembly and validation timelines of projects.
  • Create documentation as needed to support electrical engine development.
