About The Position

Carrier Global Corporation, a global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Building Automation Systems (BAS/MEP). This role involves the hardware engineering design of complete building automation systems, including specifying and sizing controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware. The engineer will create sequences of operation for controlling building systems, document BAS designs, manage revisions, and create clear and concise requests for information (RFIs). The position requires comprehension and analysis of construction plans and specification documents, with a comprehensive understanding of MEP systems and dynamics. The engineer will also ensure engineering processes are followed, suggest enhancements, and adhere to all Automated Logic organizational safety and ethics standards, including the Carrier code of ethics. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in HVAC or BAS controls
  • Understand electrical and mechanical building systems.
  • Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including e-mail and Microsoft Office software.
  • Able to interpret plans (including architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints), specifications, and contract documents to deliver compliant but optimized designs.
  • Able to accurately and effectively request clarifications to technical or scope information via a formal RFI process.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously under general direction in a highly dynamic, and collaborative environment.
  • Effective and professional communication and organization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability.

  • Basic understanding of IT networking concepts relating to Building Automation

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, building automation, or related field.
  • 5+ years of related experience in the Building Automation industry.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Visio.
  • Special consideration given to individuals with Automated Logic EDS
  • Previous experience with Eikon, Sitebuilder, and Viewbuilder
  • Familiarity with third-party communication protocols used in building automation (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.). Able to design integrations with the same.

Responsibilities

  • Hardware Engineering Design of complete building automation systems including the specification and sizing of controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware.
  • Creation, where necessary, of sequence of operation for the control of all building systems.
  • Documentation of BAS design (i.e. submittals) and revision control of the resultant documents.
  • Final documentation of the building automation system that incorporates all changes made since the issuance of the submittal.
  • Timely creation of requests for information (RFIs) which are clear, concise, and well written.
  • Clear communication and proactive expectation setting with supervisor and project teams.
  • Comprehend, analyze, and interpret construction plans and specification documents.
  • Ensure engineering processes are followed and make suggestions for enhancement.
  • Ensure all Automated Logic organizational safety and ethics standards are met.
  • Adherence to safety standards. High regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Adherence to ethics standards. Exemplifies the Carrier code of ethics.
