As a Mechanical Engineer with ULA you will research, design and develop instruments, automation controls, engines, machines, mechanisms, hydraulics, heat transfer, cryogenic and ordnance components and systems that are used in the transmission, measurement and use of energy. Application of mechanical engineering principles to the planning, design, development and testing of mechanical systems. This engineering position is responsible for developing designs for Mechanical Ground Support Equipment Transportation & Handling for our Launch complexes at Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg Space Force Bases Create models and produce/release drawings used for fabrication. Designs shall be optimized for manufacturing, producibility, and usability Work with ULA subcontract administration and manufacturers through fabrication, test and acceptance Support first use of hardware to ensure proper installation and processing Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites Perform preliminary strength calculations before engaging Strength team for final buy off

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Able to lead a project team from initial concepts through final installation
  • Strong project lead skills and solid Mechanical design experience
  • Proficient with NX, Teamcenter, MS Office, MS Project
  • Proficient in drawing standards and GD&T
  • Experienced contributor that can work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work experience on projects in which integration between different engineering disciplines occurred (e.g. structural, electrical, test, analysis)
  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems
  • Able to work independently
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Builds trust with teammates, can prioritize and execute tasks effectively for self that are aligned to program plans, and has the ability to respectfully give and receive constructive criticism
  • Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites or vendors.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license to drive between work locations on a military base where public transportation is not available
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined in ITAR 22 CFR 120.62 (e.g., U.S. Citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or protected individual).

Responsibilities
