About The Position

This position supports facility projects by preparing and reviewing mechanical designs, specifications, and construction documents. Requirements

• One year as a Mechanical Engineer 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• Two years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
• Two years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
• Possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.
• Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

• Opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week after the initial 6-month training period.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations for construction and renovation work
• Develop cost estimates through different project phases to support planning and bidding
• Assist field inspection personnel by resolving technical issues at institutions
• Evaluate contractor data such as shop drawings and test reports and recommend appropriate actions
• Investigate and address mechanical system concerns through inspections and problem-solving
• Collaborate with other agencies during studies and surveys to assess departmental needs
