About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer 2 supports mechanical design and release activities, including concept development, design checking, and validation of mechanical parts. Validation may involve fit-up and assembly, vibration testing, and thermal testing. The role also reviews mechanical designs and concepts and interacts with suppliers regarding manufacturing. The engineer works in person with the on-site team and virtually with global colleagues, collaborating with Mechanical and Power Electronic Engineers. The position is based on-site in Chillicothe, Illinois, and the work environment includes an office and, when needed, production floors or testing sites where PPE will be provided.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience; the employer accepts a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years of experience or an associate degree with 9 years of experience.
• A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is required unless qualifying under the stated alternative education and experience combinations.
• Mechanical design fundamentals and knowledge of material properties.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Creo.
• Foundational understanding of dimensional tolerancing.
• Knowledge of heat transfer concepts and metallic material properties.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems.
• Remote work is not accepted.

Nice To Haves

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Verbal communication skills, a team-oriented approach, and initiative.
