At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division at NAS Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of the Prototyping, Experimentation, and Instrumentation (PIE) Department and we are currently looking to hire a Mechanical Drafter II. As a Mechanical Drafter II, you’ll apply your learned technical knowledge and skills to prepare detailed working diagrams, drawings, and computer models of mechanical devices, parts, and assemblies, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) plus successful completion of trade or technical school, or undergraduate or military school course in drafting, mechanical drawing, or engineering drawing.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in performing the stated functions is also required.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Create drawings/models that include various views, sectional profiles, irregular or reverse curves, hidden lines, and small or intricate details.
  • Use most of the conventional drafting and Computer Aided Design (CAD) techniques.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the terms and procedures of the occupation.
  • Perform arithmetic computations using formulas.
  • Perform familiar or recurring work based on assignments given in general terms.
  • Make simple revisions to existing drawings or computer models, often assigned with only a verbal explanation of the desired results.
  • Produce more complex revisions from sketches, computer models, or specifications that clearly depict the desired product.
