About The Position

The Mechanical Designer creates new designs and supports existing product designs and design inputs across a broad range of products. The role provides design and administrative support to Product Engineering team members and leads individual design projects. It reports to the Product Engineering Manager. Requirements

• Associate degree in Mechanical Design Technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of product design and drafting experience in a manufacturing environment using 3D modeling software.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint and MS Project.
• Experience with project management, new product development, ERP software, and part creation.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain complex 3D part and assembly models using SolidWorks CAD software.
• Create new parts and bills of materials in the ERP system to support the release of part and assembly drawings to production.
• Coordinate engineering changes by revising part and assembly models, bills of materials, and other ERP inputs, while maintaining design revision history.
• Lead and participate in cross-functional design reviews to gather stakeholder input on final design solutions.
• Work directly with suppliers on product design and costs for purchased production and developmental materials, services, parts, and assemblies.
• Coordinate prototype builds for product testing and field or laboratory evaluations.
• Support manufacturing operations by interpreting engineering drawings and resolving manufacturing and quality issues to meet design specifications.
• Coordinate product cost estimates for customer designs by recommending materials and manufacturing processes that meet design intent.
• Travel to suppliers, customers, trade shows, test sites, and other destinations up to 25%.
