Pinchin is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our Mechanical team in Kelowna. The role reports to the Operations Manager. Department Overview: Pinchin’s Mechanical Engineering team delivers practical, sustainable building system solutions across a wide range of sectors. The group supports new construction and retrofit projects with expertise in HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, and energy performance, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide thoughtful design, analysis, and client-focused results.

Requirements

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering and P.Eng. designation. Alternatively, a person with expert level proven work experience will also be considered.
  • Must have expert level Revit and AutoCad experience
  • 5+ years of consulting engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain new and grow existing relationships with clients.
  • Experience in building HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Suppression design
  • Experience conducting energy audits or evaluating energy efficiency measures for building mechanical systems.
  • Good research and technical writing skills
  • Excellent English verbal communication, organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and a basic knowledge of IES, load calculation software.
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel to various client sites either locally or to adjacent provinces
  • Must have ability to work remotely and independently. Entrepreneur mindset is an asset.

Nice To Haves

  • LEED or CEM designations considered an asset.
  • Played key roles in Education (K-12/Post-Secondary) and/or Healthcare sectors within the last 5 years with client references available upon request.

Responsibilities

  • Building mechanical HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Suppression designs for Pinchin’s broad portfolio of clients in British Columbia and across Canada.
  • Energy Audits, Specialist Reports and GHG reduction studies in existing buildings in Western Canada with assistance from our energy modelers
  • Assisting other groups in Pinchin with HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression advice as required
  • Support projects related to new builds and retrofits in multiple sectors including residential, commercial and institutional.
  • Prepare proposals, cost estimates and reports.
  • Win public bids.
  • Manage projects as required
  • Perform drafting duties in AutoCad and Revit as needed
  • Perform load calculations using conventional software including IES
  • Foster and maintain positive, long term client relationships
