About The Position

VAA is seeking a Mechanical Designer to prepare construction documents and assist during construction support, working with engineers and project managers. The Mechanical team designs material handling, process ventilation and building safety systems, process and utility piping and heat exchangers, and HVAC and plumbing systems for agribusiness, industrial, and commercial facilities. The role includes developing process and utility piping drawings to specified CAD standards, coordinating design work with team members and vendors, and supporting technicians through work distribution and review. The position may require occasional travel for site observations and field measurements. The work is offered as hybrid or remote. The starting hourly range is $30.00–$40.00, with offers determined using factors such as market data, geographic location, experience, and specialized skills.

Requirements

A certificate in construction-related drafting or related courses and at least three years of HVAC and plumbing design experience, or at least four years of HVAC and plumbing design experience.
Proficiency in Revit 3D and Plant 3D.

Responsibilities

Prepare complete construction documents with engineers and project managers and assist during the construction support phase.
Prepare process and utility piping isometrics, layout plans, sections, and details to specified CAD standards, working directly with engineers or project managers.
Provide direction to technicians and distribute work.
Review and back-check technicians’ work.
Coordinate designs with team members and product vendors.
Communicate with clients and/or contractors regarding RFIs and field questions.
Review shop drawings.
Further develop design skills to advance technical expertise.
Attend internal and client coordination meetings.
Travel occasionally for site observations and field measurements, as needed.
