About The Position

The Mechanical Designer plays a critical role in the planning and development of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for a variety of building projects across the United States. This position is responsible for creating detailed and efficient HVAC system designs that meet client specifications, regulatory standards, and sustainability goals. The HVAC Designer collaborates closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems within building structures. By leveraging advanced design software and industry best practices, the designer ensures optimal system performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. Ultimately, this role contributes to the successful delivery of high-quality, cost-effective HVAC solutions that support the overall functionality and safety of built environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in HVAC system design, preferably within commercial projects.
  • Proficiency in HVAC design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles, load calculations, and energy efficiency standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards including ASHRAE, SMACNA, and local building codes.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of building automation systems and controls.
  • Experience working on large-scale or complex construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed HVAC system designs including load calculations, ductwork layouts, and equipment selection.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate HVAC systems into architectural and structural plans.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation using CAD and BIM software.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and national codes, as well as industry standards.
  • Support project managers and engineers during the construction phase to address design-related issues.
  • Stay current with emerging HVAC technologies, materials, and sustainable design practices.
