About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer. The position will be based at our manufacturing facility in Greenwood, SC. The expected annual salary range for this role is $56000 - $83000 a year. This role will assist with the design and execution of complex medium-voltage switchgear solutions, supporting New Product Development (NPD) projects. The designer will work with lead engineers to support product design, project execution, customer support, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited intuition or high school diploma with minimum 3 years of experience with medium voltage switchgear experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings, BOMs, and change documentation.
  • Experience designing medium-voltage switchgear, GIS/AIS products, or related power distribution equipment.
  • Knowledge of IEEE switchgear standards and product development processes.
  • Experience with PLM systems, engineering analysis, and product validation.
  • Demonstrated leadership of complex technical projects and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support the mechanical design and development of medium-voltage switchgear products and assemblies.
  • Develop 3D models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and product documentation using CAD and PLM systems.
  • Collaborate with Front End Engineering and Customer Order Engineering teams to generate BOMs and material demands for standard product content on customer orders at product launch.
  • Support complex NPD engineering projects from concept through release.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical problem-solving, testing, and validation activities.
  • Build engineering prototypes to facilitate design reviews and product testing.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, sourcing, quality, manufacturing teams, and EESS to ensure successful project execution and product launch.
  • Drive product improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and engineering process enhancements.
  • Support technology development, product architecture, and innovation initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, quality systems, and safety requirements.
