About The Position

As part of a new development project for one of our clients, we are looking for a Mechanical Designer. Design mechanical installations for experimental systems (flight test aircraft, structural or systems test rigs, wind tunnel models) as part of aircraft development and defense projects. Design structural and systems modifications required to convert an aircraft into a flight test vehicle. Carry out design activities using CATIA V5 and Siemens NX software. Plan and track the design schedule for projects under your responsibility while respecting allocated budgets. Interpret technical requirements from the aerospace sector to develop robust solutions that meet design criteria while optimizing cost and schedule. Perform preliminary structural stress analyses on designed installations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, act as a technical leader, influence stakeholders, build strong relationships, and actively contribute to team development. Ensure project execution by working closely with the experimental workshop and actively supporting manufacturing, assembly, and installation phases. Effectively manage priorities in complex environments and confidently present technical solutions to management teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in mechanical design within the aerospace industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in CATIA V5 and Siemens NX design software, as well as Microsoft Office tools, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of structures, materials, and standard components used in the aerospace and industrial sectors; experience in designing machined parts, welded assemblies, and sheet metal components, as well as knowledge of instrumentation.
  • Excellent understanding of technical and regulatory requirements in the aerospace field, with demonstrated ability to manage complex projects including planning, budget tracking, and risk management.
  • Recognized technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams, with the ability to influence stakeholders, build strong relationships, and demonstrate responsibility, sound judgment, and strong team spirit.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Membership in good standing with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Eligibility for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English
