About The Position

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Designer I to support the development of mechanical layouts, drawings, and construction documentation for power generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centers, substations, transmission, and industrial infrastructure projects. The role works under the guidance of senior engineers and designers, contributing technical deliverables that support EPC project execution from concept through construction. The ideal candidate has a foundation in drafting and 3D modeling, is willing to learn complex mechanical systems, and can contribute in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment. The designer assists with mechanical design and drafting, 3D modeling and CAD work, project execution, multidisciplinary coordination, construction and field support, and quality practices. The position may involve occasional site visits and work in active industrial or construction environments.

Requirements

0–2 years of experience in mechanical drafting or design.
Basic understanding of mechanical drafting principles, piping systems and layouts, HVAC and mechanical systems fundamentals, and industrial facility layouts.
Familiarity with construction drawings and documentation, and engineering markups and redline processes.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to follow direction and work under supervision.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise in EPC environments.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
Ability to travel occasionally for site visits, field verification, and construction support activities.
Ability to work in active industrial and construction environments as required.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
Internship or co-op experience in EPC, industrial, power generation, or manufacturing environments.
Experience with Plant 3D, Navisworks, or other 3D modeling tools.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing mechanical design deliverables for power generation, renewable energy, BESS, data center, and industrial infrastructure projects.
Prepare and revise equipment layouts, general arrangement drawings, piping layouts and routing drawings, mechanical details, fabrication drawings, equipment location plans, isometric drawings, and construction and installation drawings.
Support development of piping systems, HVAC layouts, cooling and auxiliary systems, fuel gas and utility systems, and Balance of Plant equipment layouts.
Incorporate engineering markups, redlines, and design revisions into drawings and models.
Develop and update 3D models using project specifications and engineering input.
Assist with model coordination and clash detection, maintain consistency across drawings and models, and support integration of vendor equipment models.
Follow CAD standards and company drafting guidelines.
Assist engineering and design teams through conceptual, detailed design, and construction phases.
Support preparation of material take-offs and quantity estimates; track deliverables, maintain drawing registers, and organize design documentation.
Support preparation of construction packages and submittals.
Coordinate with mechanical engineers and civil, structural, electrical, and I&C teams; participate in design reviews and coordination sessions; assist with resolving cross-discipline conflicts and integrating mechanical designs into facility layouts.
Assist with field verification and site visits as required.
Support responses to Requests for Information under engineer guidance; update drawings based on field conditions and construction feedback; assist with as-built drawings and project closeout documentation.
Follow company drafting standards, procedures, and project requirements; perform basic drawing accuracy and completeness checks; support continuous improvement in drafting practices and workflows; maintain organized project files and documentation.
