About The Position

The Mechanical Design Engineer II develops new platform products and Customer Lead Opportunities (CLOs) that meet performance, cost, and quality requirements. The role also produces clear technical documentation and procedures for use by design, manufacturing, and quality engineers. It supports existing products through cost reduction, failure analysis, application solutions, and product derivatives, and contributes to design review and optimization using computer-aided design analysis tools. The position is fully onsite at the designated Regal Rexnord office and requires 5–10% travel.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or another related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience.
• Ability to perform design calculations.
• Ability to use computer-aided design tools.
• Understanding of design requirements, part function, and manufacturing principles.
• Ability to facilitate technical discussions with internal and external customers, including application or specification reviews and VOC discussions.
• Ability to solve moderately complex problems.
• Willingness to travel by all forms of transportation.

Nice To Haves

• SolidWorks and PDM experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products that meet performance, cost, and quality requirements.
• Support existing products through cost reduction, failure analysis, application solutions, and product derivatives.
• Approve drawings and documentation for simple-to-medium-complexity components and processes.
• Provide recommendations and supporting documentation to the engineering manager or project team for complex components and processes.
• Disposition items through the Material Review Board (MRB).
• Use computer-aided design analysis tools to optimize designs efficiently.
• Meet TG2 contract deliverables, including launch on-time delivery and product and project cost and quality metrics.
• Deliver designs that meet voice-of-customer (VOC) and voice-of-process (VOP) inputs and requirements.
• Create product and process design documentation that leverages reference designs and best practices and enables design traceability.
• Review existing designs to support selection of alternate designs and components while maintaining original design intent, features, and functions.
