About The Position

Corning is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Advanced Machine Systems team at Sullivan Park, its R&D facility in Corning, New York. This onsite role supports development of prototype and next-generation process equipment that enables new products and process capabilities across Corning’s businesses. The engineer will work hands-on with mechanical, electrical, controls, research, development, manufacturing, and operations teams to turn early concepts into robust machine systems suitable for manufacturing environments. The role includes up to 30% domestic and international travel for equipment installation, start-up, debugging, and routine interaction with internal and external customers and suppliers. The position involves designing mechanical components, assemblies, fixtures, and process equipment, including metrology and scanning systems, using 3D CAD. The engineer supports machine-system development from concept through design, build, installation, start-up, debugging, and improvement; applies engineering fundamentals and practical design methods; contributes to proof-of-concept prototypes; works with suppliers and equipment partners; verifies builds and layouts against drawings and design intent; and prepares technical documentation and updates. Corning’s Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering division provides manufacturing technologies and engineering expertise to Corning’s existing and emerging businesses, partnering with those businesses and the Science & Technology division. The position does not support immigration sponsorship.
