About The Position

Cubic Machinery is a machine tool builder and robotics integrator in Chino, California, designing and building custom machines, robotic cells, and factory automation for aerospace, automotive, and precision manufacturers. Projects move quickly from concept to operating machine. The Mechanical Design Engineer designs complete custom machines and robotic cells, including frames, fixtures, grippers, part feeders, guarding, and integration with CNC machines and robots. The role selects off-the-shelf components and sizes actuators, linear motion systems, and pneumatics; designs custom parts for in-house machining; and produces 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials in SolidWorks. The engineer also supports machine build, debugging, and installation on the floor, and collaborates with controls engineers on sensors, PLC I/O, and motion.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years designing custom machinery, automation equipment, or robotic cells at a machine builder or integrator.
  • Strong component-selection skills, including pneumatics, linear guides, ballscrews, and servo/stepper sizing.
  • Ability to take a concept to a buildable design quickly.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Good design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly habits.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with part feeding and CNC machine tending.

Responsibilities
