As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and enhancement of both new and existing products. Your responsibilities will include creating detailed CAD models, performing tolerance analysis, and ensuring design modifications meet both functional and manufacturing requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of product designs and the achievement of project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer (required).
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks 3D, AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • High level of personal accountability and a strong cultural fit with the U.S. team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in designing electromechanical systems and controls (preferred).
  • Experience with PLM and ERP systems (e.g., Infor, SAP).
  • Experience with work management and knowledge sharing tools (Jira & Confluence) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with scripting (e.g. Python)/Solidworks APIs, Macros, and/or other design/development automation technics is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Create mechanical models and CAD drawings for new products and maintain existing product designs.
  • Prepare detailed, production-quality CAD drawings and review for accuracy and completeness.
  • Calculate tolerance stack-ups for sub-assemblies and assemblies.
  • Apply design-for-assembly principles and cost considerations throughout the design process.
  • Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and other product-related analyses.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to internal and global design standards.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams in value stream such as product teams, and manufacturing personnel to address design challenges and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary product certifications.
  • Engage with sales and customer service teams to understand and address customer-driven needs.
  • Maintain both electronic and hard copies of documentation for new and existing products.
  • Provide input on process improvements, including opportunities to enhance documentation practices and design efficiency.
