Mechanical Design Engineer

Hadrian Automation•Torrance, CA
•$150,000 - $220,000

About The Position

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that combine AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing to help aerospace and defense companies produce mission-critical systems faster and at lower cost. The company is expanding its manufacturing capabilities and Factory-as-a-Service platform. The Mechanical Design Engineer will create accurate CAD models and drawings from naval prints, aerospace drawings, legacy prints, and other customer technical data. The role includes creating models and drawings for each manufacturing state (M-state) of a part, managing PLM data and release workflows, and carrying out customer and internal changes across part families. The engineer will work closely with manufacturing, tooling, programming, and inspection teams to provide parametric models and timely design changes that support production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of professional mechanical design experience, including production CAD models and drawings for manufactured hardware.
  • Proficiency in at least one parametric 3D CAD platform (NX, CATIA, Creo, or SolidWorks), including building models from complex 2D drawings and from incomplete or missing drawings.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), engineering drawing standards, and PLM-based release and change control.
  • Experience working directly with manufacturing teams and managing release schedules and priorities across multiple products.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Siemens NX on production parts.
  • Experience with naval or shipyard drawings, customer technical data packages, and legacy prints.
  • Experience with both naval and aerospace hardware.
  • Experience creating in-process (M-state) models and drawings, and running customer and internal change processes in parallel.
  • Experience with machining, welded assemblies, tooling design, and CMM or scan-based inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Build accurate CAD models from naval prints, aerospace drawings, legacy prints, and other customer technical data.
  • Create internal CAD models and drawings for each manufacturing state (M-state) of a part.
  • Own PLM data structure and move parts through the release workflow.
  • Execute customer and internal changes across part families, including customer geometry and all related M-states.
  • Partner with manufacturing, tooling, programming, and inspection teams, providing clean, parametric models and fast design changes when production needs them.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees.
  • 401k.
  • Relocation support may be provided in certain situations, based on business need.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
