Mechanical Design Engineer - Level 3

About The Position

This role involves managing time efficiently, improving work ethic, and handling competing priorities with guidance. The engineer will practice and encourage safety-conscious design and build processes, work cooperatively in a team to deliver quality products, and maintain a positive attitude. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to complete projects on time and within budget, communicating job progress and potential issues to stakeholders, and applying machine design theory with accurate calculations. The role also involves providing guidance to less experienced engineers, collaborating with leadership on project decisions, completing simulations and risk assessments, and developing manufacturable designs that meet project scope. The engineer will ensure accurate information is conveyed to plant departments and develop bills of material. This position will lead the design of medium to large sized machines, using SolidWorks to produce drawings from various inputs and applying standard drafting/design principles. Collaboration with the Design Manager & Engineers is key for a coordinated design. The role includes drafting engineering notes, specifications, and sketches, formalizing them into working drawings, and utilizing technical manuals for compliance with standards and codes. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SolidWorks design software.
Advanced proficiency in small machine design.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in medium and large machine design.
Intermediate to advanced written and verbal communication skills.
Must have advanced knowledge in advanced CAD techniques.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
Intermediate knowledge of metals and varied materials.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics or similar engineering track.

Lead design of medium to large sized machines.
Use SolidWorks software to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings, images, & other forms of communication.
Apply standard drafting/design principles and theories to complete assignments.
Work closely with Design Manager & Engineers to ensure a coordinated design.
Draft engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches and formalizes them into working drawings.
Utilize technical manuals to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable standards and codes.
May perform other duties as assigned or required.
