About The Position

Mechanical Engineer II is an intermediate-level engineering role responsible for independently developing mechanical designs and production documentation for WNA’s environmental test chambers. The position converts customer, project, and cross-functional requirements into chamber layouts, fabrication and assembly drawings, bills of material, print packs, and approved design packages while applying practical knowledge of chamber construction, manufacturability, cost, quality, serviceability, installation, and subsystem integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 3–10 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or manufacturing.
  • Proficient in using SolidWorks and/or PTC Creo for designing sheet-metal based models
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD with layouts and fabrication drawings.
  • Proficient in preparing designs, drawings, BOMs, and production documents.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal, fabrication, weldments, tolerances, fastening, and assembly.
  • Able to coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, refrigeration, controls, utilities, and equipment needs.
  • Able to read, create, and explain technical drawings, specifications, calculations, and instructions.
  • Able to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate revisions.
  • Able to solve problems and make practical decisions with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • PDM and ERP/MRP experience; Windchill and SAP a plus
  • Environmental chamber and WNA cabinet design knowledge.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration, thermodynamics, heat transfer, electrical systems, or equipment integration.
  • Engineering changes, production support, corrective action, or standardization.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design chamber structures, layouts, sheet-metal parts, weldments, and mounting details.
  • Create and release drawings, BOMs, submittals, print packs, and design packages.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with refrigeration, electrical, controls, utilities, and facility interfaces.
  • Review specifications, quotes, inputs, and calculations for accuracy and alignment.
  • Coordinate requirements with internal teams, customers, vendors, and project managers.
  • Develop manufacturable, serviceable designs using sound mechanical design practices.
  • Support Manufacturing with documentation, build issues, discrepancies, and design changes.
  • Prepare customer, vendor, shipping, installation, and facility-interface drawings.
  • Support design reviews, corrective actions, standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Review and approve assigned designs; maintain records in engineering, PDM, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
