About The Position

As a Mechanical Design Engineer II here at Honeywell, you will contribute to the design and development of innovative mechanical solutions that support building automation systems. You will apply your mechanical engineering expertise to create reliable and efficient products that enhance building safety, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Oregon location on a Hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will impact the development of advanced mechanical components and systems that integrate with Honeywell Building Automation products, helping to drive the company’s mission of delivering sustainable and productive building solutions. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and development
• 3+ years of proficiency in CAD software such as CREO (preferred), AutoCAD, or SolidWorks and experience with mechanical analysis/simulation tools
• 1+ years working closely with cross functional teams such as Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Electrical Engineering.

• Experience in building automation or related industries
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in mechanical design
• Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools such as Teamcenter.
• Overcoming difficult technical roadblocks through creativity and tenacity
• Experience with materials selection, manufacturing processes, and product testing
• Flexibility around travel to supplier, customer, and manufacturing sites
• Experience in creating detailed engineering drawings and GD&T documentation
• Excellent communication skills in conversation, presentations, and email

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for building automation products
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define mechanical requirements and ensure design feasibility
• Validate prototypes by defining and/or implementing test plans that include environmental testing, cycle testing, and durability testing.
• Improve test capabilities through automation, sensors, and software/firmware
• Support sustaining engineering activities including design changes, quality improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.
