UCT is looking for a talented Design Engineer II- Mechanical to join us in Austin, TX! Review and understand product application and design on a cross functional project team. Responsible for organizing low complexity activities for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering projects. Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables and supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems. May supervise or coordinate the work of designers and other technical support personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- 5+ year experience in component and system design utilizing Solidworks and ProEngineer.
Responsibilities
- Performs design engineering work from concept stage to creation of drawings needed to manufacture the parts.
- Deep understanding of drawing standards, formatting, and dimensioning included basic GD&T.
- Identifies material, process, and other pertinent specifications needed for the design, drafting & manufacturing of mechanical components.
- Prepares layouts/models based on design specifications and create detailed drawings of parts based on the layout/model.
- Knowledge of DfX methodologies and practices.
- Optimize BOM for manufacturability.
- Generates accurate/complete/clear manufacturing drawings of company products from 3-D CAD models using Creo and SolidWorks.
- Ability to perform designs using AutoCAD.
- Analyzes system design from concept through detailing and release for production.
- Develops assembly drawings and Bills of Material from assembly models.
- Calculates and verifies that the design meets the specifications.
