About The Position

We have an immediate opening for an on-site Mechanical Project Engineer who will design and lead the installation of capital investment equipment in our high paced, dynamic Michelin Facility in Ardmore, OK. This role is often "on-site" and "hands on", and many projects include implementation schedules during holidays and shutdowns.

Requirements

  • Travel requirements can be up to 30%. Typically provides support in USA, Canada, and Mexico with other international travel possibilities
  • Strong experience and knowledge in the Mixing Process, including equipment installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and process improvement activities
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting or leading industrial CAPEX projects from concept through commissioning
  • Experience supporting equipment installation, startup, commissioning, CI/RF activities, and shutdown execution in manufacturing environments
  • Experience developing technical specifications, RFQs, contractor scopes, and budgetary estimates for mechanical projects
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, OEMs, and cross-functional teams during project execution
  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years as mechanical project leader or project support
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals with minimum supervision
  • Able to develop positive relationships with internal customers
  • Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated solid teamwork and planning skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint, Teams)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems preferred
  • Experience working in tire manufacturing, heavy industry, or continuous process manufacturing environments preferred
  • Beginners with strong potential may be considered and would receive appropriate training
  • Project management experience or team leadership experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies of functional specifications; evaluate solutions against the criteria of cost, landmarks, risks, and functionality.
  • Adhere to the quality system and established methods (risk analyses, FMEA, design reviews, quality planning, treatment of non-Conformities, etc.).
  • Acquire validation of landmarks during the installation, start-up and ramp-up of the equipment in collaboration with team members.
  • Facilitate procurement, acceptance inspections, and maintain “as built” folders for assigned material and equipment projects.
  • Create budget estimates and bid packages on assigned projects.
  • Provide project documentation: mechanical designs, technical offer, safety risk assessment, maintenance & operator training documents and user manuals.
  • Lead mechanical contractors or maintenance installation teams during equipment modifications & machine installations through start-up and commissioning.
  • Providing project support, especially during installation, start-up and ramp up phases.
