The City of Windsor is seeking a Mechanical Building Inspector to join their Inspections Department. This role is responsible for performing plumbing inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with approved plans, the Ontario Building Code, reference standards, and related municipal bylaws. The inspector will review, inspect, and approve the construction of plumbing building systems, organize workload, document inspection results, and liaise with various stakeholders including property owners, contractors, engineers, and architects. The position also involves investigating complaints, applying enforcement for contraventions, advising the Ministry of Labour of unsafe conditions, inspecting fire-damaged buildings, issuing occupancy clearances, preparing evidence for court, and responding to public inquiries. Additionally, the inspector will issue orders for code deficiencies, verify materials and methods meet standards, approve alternative designs, represent the division at meetings, mentor junior staff, travel to off-site locations, and perform occupational health and safety duties.
