About The Position

S&C Electric Company is seeking dynamic individuals for our assembly function. As Assemblers, you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion. This posting is to fill current and future vacancies within S&C Electric Canada.

Requirements

  • 0-5 years of experience in assembly with a desire to learn electrical/mechanical assembly processes, follow assembly instructions, and use various hand/power tools to assemble products.
  • Proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers. Able to manipulate small objects, operate tools, and handle intricate equipment effectively.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate order quantities consistently.
  • Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned materials requests.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to calculate measurements and weights.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team member inside and outside of the department.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools.
  • Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.
  • Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble basic/moderately complex mechanical parts.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools to fasten screws, bolts, and other hardware to secure components in place, ensuring proper torque and alignment.
  • Inspect mechanical components meticulously to identify any defects, ensuring they meet strict quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.
  • Complete in-house training to learn how to read basic blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
  • Use an overhead crane, ladders, and other material handling equipment to move and position materials for assembly.
  • Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
