About The Position

S&C Electric Company is seeking dynamic individuals for our machine shop function. As CNC Operators, you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of demonstrated experience with the set-up and operation of manual and computer-controlled Verticals, Mills, Lathes, Presses, Drills, other Machine Shop type of equipment
  • Ability to use hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as scales and calipers.
  • Good knowledge of machine controls and programs with the ability to setup machines to operate new jobs to specific specifications.
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned materials requests.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to calculate quantities, weights, and measurements.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team member inside and outside of the department.
  • Ability and willingness to follow Health Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various manual and CNC machines to fabricate parts according to standard specifications.
  • Set up machines with the appropriate tools and materials according to standard specifications, including the basic physical reconfiguration of the machine to complete new jobs and the setup of various specifications in computer-operated machines if applicable.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and other technical specifications to understand the requirements for basic and moderately complex parts and ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Perform basic routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure longevity and quality fabrication, including cleaning and reporting mechanical/electrical issues to department leaders.
  • Utilize an overhead crane and other material handling equipment to safely position materials for machining.
  • Complete first piece inspection of parts using various measurement tools, confirming pieces are the correct material, quality, and specifications before beginning the machining process.
  • Maintain accurate records of fabrication activities, including tracking the progress of job orders and documenting corrective action needed for the machine, part, or process.
  • Deburr metal parts using hand and/or power tools, ensuring materials are safe to handle and are in a state that's ready for further processing.
  • Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
