About The Position

The Mechanical and Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility. This position is responsible for equipment reliability, facility infrastructure, and maintenance strategy execution. The role combines hands-on technical involvement with leadership accountability to minimize downtime, control costs, and support production targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial millwright or equivalent related experience.
  • 5–10 years’ experience in facility and maintenance leadership within manufacturing
  • Expert in automated packaging systems with a focus on predictive/preventative maintenance and data-driven reliability
  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff and manage priorities in high-pressure manufacturing environments.
  • Strong technical expertise in automated processing and packaging equipment
  • Experience improving equipment reliability in high speed production environments.
  • Proficiency with management systems and data driven decision making, working with Microsoft program suite and CMMS programs
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
  • Track record of improving uptime, reducing downtime, and optimizing maintenance strategies.
  • Supports apprenticeship programs and on the job training requirements

Responsibilities

  • Lead proactive and reactive maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
  • Minimize production downtime through structured preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Actively participate in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC related issues.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance program for all production lines to increase equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, and improve overall OEE performance.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and optimization of new equipment
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations for recurring equipment failures.
  • Improve reliability metrics
  • Ensure high workmanship standards to prevent repeat failures.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and optimization of new and existing equipment.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and analyze performance trends using CMMS.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed safely and in accordance with Plant Policies and Workplace Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Enforce LOTO procedures and safe work practices.
  • Maintain compliance with HACCP and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain hygienic equipment standards to protect product quality.
  • Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget.
  • Control labor, contractor, and spare parts spending.
  • Optimize critical spare parts inventory and procurement processes.
  • Lead capital planning and long term asset replacement strategies.
  • Identify and implement cost saving and efficiency improvement initiatives.
  • Own maintenance KPIs including downtime reduction and PM compliance.
  • Support OEE improvement initiatives across production lines.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance compliance exceeds 95 percent.
  • Partner with Production and Quality teams to improve line performance.
  • Oversee building infrastructure including utilities, HVAC, compressed air, and electrical systems.
  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors and technicians.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership during complex troubleshooting and major repairs.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and clear communication within the Maintenance Department.
  • Ensure appropriate technical training and development of maintenance personnel.
  • Build a culture focused on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.
