About The Position

This position is responsible for fleet operations and maintenance and reports to the Branch Manager. The Mechanic services and repairs fleet vehicles of all sizes, performs preventive maintenance, diagnoses and repairs mechanical, engine, and electrical issues, and supports vehicle testing and parts procurement. Work is performed in a semi-enclosed structure and outdoors, with exposure to chemicals, gasoline and diesel fumes, intermittent high noise, wet and dry conditions, and extreme heat or cold. The full-time schedule averages 40 hours per week over five days.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience.
• Possess a valid driver’s license (Class C or better).
• Be able to drive automatic and standard-transmission vehicles weighing from 2,000 to 50,000 pounds.
• Meet qualifications outlined in Section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Meet DOT standards to achieve brake and annual inspection certifications.
• Have at least 1 year of experience or a certificate from an approved training program for brake and annual inspection certifications.
• Be able to read and understand technical service manuals, repair orders, labels, and gauges in English.
• Be able to communicate verbally in English.

Nice To Haves

• Dealership experience is preferred.
• Foreign and domestic vehicle experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair fleet vehicles of all sizes.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including lubrication, oil changes, replacing belts and hoses, brake inspections, bearing repacking, and tire checks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, engine, and electrical irregularities or malfunctions on vehicles of all sizes.
• Drive automatic and standard-shift vehicles for testing, transfer, and parts pickup or delivery.
• Perform inventory and order parts and supplies as needed.
• Write work orders and purchase orders.
• Communicate by telephone to order parts and supplies.
