About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is hiring a Mechanic/Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems. The company is family owned and operated, began in 1978, and provides standard, next-day, ground delivery throughout the Midwest. Its corporate headquarters and main sort facility are in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and it employs over 1,800 people company-wide. The schedule is Monday through Friday with a 2:00 PM start. Occasional Saturdays may be needed. The hourly wage is $20.00–$33.00 based on experience, with an additional $2.00 per hour shift differential. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for full-time Mechanic/Vehicle Technicians. The position requires the ability to pass a DOT physical exam and pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check. The work environment may involve diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have own tools or the ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions.
Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or willingness to learn.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to pass a DOT physical exam.
Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet.
Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Two years of technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics preferred.
Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.
Use scan tool and laptop technology.
Follow reasonable instructions from the shift leader.
Work independently and/or with a team.
Perform routine truck inspections and maintain fleet equipment.
Help maintain an effective and clean work environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
