About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is hiring a Mechanic/Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems. The company is family owned and operated, was started in 1978, and provides standard next-day ground delivery throughout the Midwest. It employs over 1,800 people company wide, with corporate headquarters and its main sort facility in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

The position is scheduled Monday through Friday with a 2:00 PM start. Occasional Saturdays may be needed. Pay is $20.00–$33.00 per hour based on experience, plus a $2.00-per-hour shift differential. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for full-time Mechanic/Vehicle Technicians.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have own tools or be able to obtain own tools to complete job functions.
• Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam.
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet.
• Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years of technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics preferred.
• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Use scan tool and laptop technology.
• Follow reasonable instructions from the shift leader.
• Work independently and/or as part of a team.
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintain fleet equipment.
• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
