About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is a family-owned and operated company founded in 1978. Its core business is standard, next-day, ground delivery, and it serves the Midwest with more than 1,800 employees. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility are in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The Mechanic/Vehicle Technician diagnoses and repairs gasoline engines and other powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a 7:00 a.m. start and occasional Saturdays as needed for full-time employees. Pay is $20.00–$33.00 per hour based on experience, with overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for full-time Mechanic/Vehicle Technicians. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a DOT physical exam, pre-employment drug screening, and criminal background check. The position requires lifting up to 75 pounds, spending at least eight hours on one’s feet, and bending, kneeling, crouching, walking, and driving. The work environment may involve diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
Must have own tools or be able to obtain own tools to complete all job functions.
Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or willingness to learn.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to pass a DOT physical exam.
Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet.
Able to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Two years of technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics preferred.
Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.
Use scan tools and laptop technology.
Follow reasonable instructions from the shift leader.
Work independently and/or with a team.
Perform routine truck inspections and maintain fleet equipment.
Help maintain an effective and clean work environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
