About The Position

The Mechanic Trainee supports quarry operations by learning and assisting with maintenance of quarry equipment and mobile machinery. Working with experienced mechanics, the trainee helps inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on production equipment while following safe maintenance practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and equipment operating standards. The role also supports equipment reliability by identifying maintenance needs and promptly reporting mechanical issues, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

The position operates primarily in an industrial quarry environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise. Physical activities include standing, walking, climbing, handling materials and tools, working at varying heights and in confined spaces, and maintaining awareness around heavy equipment.

Requirements

• Mechanical aptitude and interest in learning equipment maintenance and repair in an industrial environment.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment under supervision.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn mechanical systems and maintenance practices.
• Dependable team player with effective communication skills and a commitment to safety.
• Ability to follow instructions, work independently when needed, and adapt to changing operational priorities.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and comply with company safety requirements and policies.
• Must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced mechanics with inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing quarry equipment and mobile machinery.
• Perform preventive maintenance on crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, and other production equipment.
• Learn and follow safe maintenance practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and equipment operating standards.
• Identify equipment maintenance needs and promptly report mechanical issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while supporting efficient quarry operations.
