About The Position
At Blain’s Farm & Fleet, we are seeking a Mechanic Shop Apprentice to join our team. This role involves working as part of the Mechanic Shop team to repair and maintain the Blain’s fleet of vehicles and powered equipment. You will maintain, repair, and service a variety of vehicles and industrial equipment, including semi-tractors and trailers, cars, pick-up trucks, gas and electric forklifts, floor scrubbers, and other powered equipment. The apprenticeship offers an opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive environment, with a focus on developing the skills needed for a successful career in vehicle maintenance and repair.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver license
Nice To Haves
- Automotive Standard of Excellence (ASE) and Department of Transportation (DOT) vehicle inspection certification preferred
- Possess or be able to obtain a commercial driver license (CDL)
Responsibilities
- Work as part of the Mechanic Shop team to repair and maintain the Blain’s fleet of vehicles and powered equipment.
- Maintain, repair, and service semi tractors and trailers, cars, pick-up trucks, gas and electric forklifts, floor scrubbers, and a variety of industrial powered equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automotive and diesel problems.
- Perform oil changes, repair & replace brakes, install replacement engines, overhaul engines, complete welding fabrication (plasma, mig, ARC), and tire changes and repairs.
- Perform DOT inspections where applicable.
- Repair and maintain hydraulics and ignitions.
- Complete trailer maintenance such as brakes, wiring, body work, wheel bearings, tire changes, fix flooring, lubricate doors, touch-up paint and fiberglass repair.
- Maintain clean and organized work area, including trash removal and scrubbing shop floor.
- Utilize parts, diagnostic, and service manuals to ensure accuracy in performance of work.
- Demonstrate awareness and compliance with Loss Prevention and safety policies and/or procedures.
